Whole Wheat Flour

High fiber flour for rustic breads and dense muffins — your go-to for heartier baking.

What it is

Whole wheat flour is made by grinding the entire wheat kernel, including the bran, germ, and endosperm. Unlike white flour, it retains all the natural nutrients and fiber from the wheat berry.

Flavor and texture

Has a slightly nutty, earthy flavor and creates denser, more substantial baked goods with a heartier texture than white flour.

Best uses

Perfect for making whole wheat bread, pizza dough, muffins, pancakes, and cookies. Can replace up to half the white flour in most recipes for added nutrition.

Storage & freshness

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place or refrigerator for extended freshness.

Whole wheat flour has shorter shelf life than white flour due to natural oils in the bran and germ that can turn rancid.

Cooking tip

When substituting for white flour, use about 3/4 cup whole wheat flour for every 1 cup of white flour, and add an extra tablespoon of liquid to prevent dryness.

Interesting note

Whole wheat flour contains three times more fiber than white flour and retains important nutrients like B vitamins, iron, and healthy fats that are removed during white flour processing.
