Golden Raisins
Naturally sweet dried grapes perfect for baking, trail mix, and grain salads as your go-to pantry staple.
What it is
Golden raisins are green grapes that have been dried using special methods to preserve their light color. Unlike dark raisins which are sun-dried, golden raisins are dried in dehydrators and treated with sulfur dioxide to maintain their pale, amber appearance.
Flavor and texture
Sweet and fruity with a softer, more tender texture than dark raisins. They have a milder, less concentrated grape flavor that's pleasantly tangy.
Best uses
Perfect for baking in cookies, muffins, and breads, mixing into rice pilafs and couscous, adding to cheese plates, or eating as a healthy snack. They're especially nice in chicken salad and trail mix.
Storage & freshness
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry pantry away from direct light.
| As purchased | 6-9 monthsfrom bulk bin exposure |
| Sealed (pantry) | 12-18 monthsif kept airtight |
| Refrigerated | 2-3 yearsextends shelf life significantly |
| Frozen | 5-10 yearsmaintains quality indefinitely |
Durations are for best quality. Safe to consume longer if no spoilage signs present.
May develop sugar crystals on surface over time — this is normal and doesn't indicate spoilage.
Cooking tip
Plump golden raisins in warm water, juice, or wine for 10-15 minutes before adding to recipes - this prevents them from drawing moisture from your baked goods and keeps them juicy.
Interesting note
Golden raisins are made from the same green grapes as dark raisins - the difference is entirely in how they're processed, not the variety of grape used.
